What Forever needs
WoW Forever brings a new visual look, so it asks a bit more of your PC than older versions. Blizzard lists these specs on the Battle.net Shop page for Forever (summarized by Wowhead):
- Minimum: Windows 10 64-bit (May 2019 Update or newer), a 4-core 3.0 GHz CPU (Intel Core Haswell or AMD Ryzen Zen), a DirectX 12 GPU with 4GB (GeForce GTX 10 series, AMD RDNA 1 or Intel Iris Xe2 Lunar Lake), 8GB RAM, and an SSD with 128GB free.
- Recommended: Windows 11, an 8 performance core CPU with a 5.2 GHz boost (Intel Core Ultra Series 2 or AMD Ryzen Zen 5), a DirectX 12 GPU with 8GB (GeForce RTX 40 series, AMD RDNA 3 or Intel Arc B-Series), 16GB RAM, and an SSD with 128GB free. Blizzard also recommends a multi-button mouse with a scroll wheel.
Heads up for older rigs: Blizzard says that at launch Forever drops support for GPUs older than AMD GCN 1, NVIDIA Maxwell or Intel Skylake. Cards like the GeForce GTX 760, 770 and 780 will not run it. Source: Blizzard News, Forever GPU Requirements. An SSD is required even at minimum, so skip the hard drive.
WoW leans hard on the CPU in crowded cities and raids, and addons add to that load. That is why every build below pairs a strong modern CPU with fast DDR5 and an NVMe SSD.
